Investing in focused equity funds requires high risk appetite and careful selection

The NAV of ICICI Pru Focused Equity Fund fell over 4% in five sessions, reaching Rs 27.22 on 10 December 2018. A key reason far this fall was the sharp drop in the stock price of one of the fund’s holdings—Sun Pharma. The stock, which made up almost 11% of the fund’s holdings, closed at its lowest level in about six years on 10 December, and dragged down the fund’s NAV.
