The year 2018 was one of the most eventful in recent time. Almost all asset classes generated below average returns due to extraordinary global and domestic developments.

At the beginning of the year, we had asked investors to moderate their return expectations from equities. While the Sensex gave 5.90% returns, broader indices did worse.
