45 per cent of the total 228 actively managed equity mutual fund schemes underperformed their respective benchmarks in the five-year period. The value-oriented category was the worst performer, with 67 per cent schemes underperforming their benchmarks. Around 61 per cent large cap schemes also failed to beat their benchmark.
