Sebi asks mutual funds to invest in listed equity securities

Exposure to risky debt securities has emerged as a major risk for capital market investors, including those coming through the mutual fund route, and the regulator has been making efforts to enhance its regulatory safety net against such risks.

With an aim to safeguard mutual fund investors from high-risk assets, regulator Sebi has asked asset management companies to make all their investments in listed or to-be-listed equity securities. The new framework comes after the board of Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) approved a proposal in this regard in August.

Exposure to risky debt securities has emerged as a major risk for capital market investors, including those coming through the mutual fund route, and the regulator has been making efforts to enhance its regulatory safety net against such risks. “All investments by a mutual fund scheme in equity shares and equity related instruments shall only be made, provided such securities are listed or to be listed,” the regulator said in a notification dated September 23.

Every times sebi want something .when required business give B 15 and B30 .After achievement of goal . change rules unrealistically.Last ten years rules MF industry is like a doldrum.what repurcussion take palace on a market is not matter of interest. On the other hand MF houses give narrative according their convenience and enjoy butter.Sebi and MF have hand in glove with try their best to destroy individual brokers.lots of things to say but lack of proper words. But from this post someone understand that I am frustrated with direct plan.its not as so.In my opinion direct plan has not get objective it creates confusion and gives opportunity to MF and sebi to earn more and escape from responsibility.
