The year 2019 was a mixed bag for mutual fund investors. Sadly, around 50% of the actively-managed equity mutual fund schemes underperformed their benchmark in 2019 till date. However, the top performers delivered double-digit returns during the same period. Some of them have outperformed their respective benchmarks by wide margins.
ETMutualFunds.com sifted through the actively-managed equity mutual fund schemes data to find out the outliers in the category. Our intention was to find out the outperformers who have beaten their benchmarks and produced double-digit returns of more than 12% year to date. We were delighted to find that 46 schemes managed to pull off this feat in 2019. In percentage terms, we can say 22% of the total equity schemes managed to defeat their benchmark, while delivering over 12% annualised year-to date returns.
