Free online MF platforms reduce costs but watch out for cross-selling, promotion

Most online MF platforms make money by cross-selling other products and services.

Over the past two-three years, online mutual fund platforms offering direct platforms have seen rapid growth. Platforms such as Paytm Money, Zerodha Coin, Groww and Kuvera do not charge anything for mutual fund investments, and the direct plans they sell do not pay out commissions.

I am not ready to accept that these platforms are doing anything for free. There would be a secret agreement between them and AMCs to compensate them in one way or the other. There is a dire need of thorough investigation in entire financial sector by an impartial and neutral body or group. The entire financial sector in a very big mess and the individual investors especially retail investors. Banks mis-sell and lend the money to all the wrong people. Mutual funds shut their funds and block so many investors money and regulator with the agreement of the regulator. NBFCs only few are good and the biggest of them have already declared scam. Real estate is in a big mess.

All of these are because of the greed of these companies or banks or NBFCs or real estate players.
