Like thousands of retail investors across India, Prasouk Jain, 31, a New Delhi-based lawyer took to equity investing when the market nosedived in March 2020. He did so by investing in stocks as well as mutual funds but is far happier with the outcome in direct stocks. “My returns are about 35% in stocks as opposed to 14% in mutual funds," he said.
“I have seen people in my family investing in mutual funds over the past 10 years and not get much of a return. I do not trust the process by which the fund manager is selecting stocks to buy," he added.
