Mutual fund houses are getting innovative and launching ‘new generation funds’. Yes, that’s what they are called in mutual fund circles. For example, consider these funds: HDFC Defense Fund, Mirae Asset Cloud Computing ETF, Nippon India Artificial Intelligence Fund of Fund, and so on. These schemes target sectors that are more niche than the existing sectoral funds. The question is whether mutual fund investors need these schemes in their portfolios?
