    Transparency & transferability seen as tipping points for growth in AIFs

    It has been over a decade since SEBI came up with its first regulations for the AIF (alternative investment funds) industry. That might be a tad less when compared with the mutual fund industry, which has been around for nearly six decades. However, at a CAGR of approx 50% over the last five years (to Rs 7 lakh crores till Jun 2022), growth in AIF commitments has been phenomenal. Therefore, SEBI’s move to roll out the recent consultation papers, proposing changes in regulatory norms for AIFs, seems timely.
