SIP investments: Over 80% mid cap schemes underperform benchmarks in 3, 5 years

Many mutual fund investors choose active mid cap schemes to invest via Systematic Investment Plan or SIP to earn extra returns. However, data crunching by ETMutualFunds reveals that over 80% mid cap schemes failed to beat their respective benchmarks in both three and five year horizons. Simply put, most active mid cap schemes failed to deliver on their promises of offering extra returns over their benchmarks.
