2023 was a year full of contradictions for markets. High interest rates, one more war and the fear of recession in the US did not stop stocks from giving blockbuster performance both in India and the US. The broad-based rally in the Indian markets was also fuelled by huge retail participation. Indian investors remained steadfastly invested in markets, led by a strong belief in the potential of Indian equities. Despite continuous negative news from global and domestic markets, investors did not exit Systematic Investment Plans (SIP) and there is a lot of interest from investors who have never invested in equities to start SIPs.
