The number of women fund managers in the Rs 50 trillion Indian Mutual Funds (MF) industry has remained constant at 42 over the past one year, as per data from Morningstar India, a data and research firm. That’s less than 10 percent of the total fund managers in the industry. This, despite the total number of fund managers having gone up to 473, as on February 2024, up from 428 a year ago. This begs the question: why are there so few women fund managers.
