Insurance ombudsmen, short-staffed, struggle with rising case loads

Mumbai: The insurance ombudsman system is seeing an increase in complaints, especially in the health insurance segment which accounts for more than two-thirds of the grievances. At the same time, the system is facing challenges due to vacancies, with three ombudsman positions vacant and seven more expected to retire by October 2024.
