    Government shortlists seven candidates for post of Sebi chairman

    The government has shortlisted seven candidates for the post of chairman of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi). UK Sinha's term as the Sebi chief comes to an end in mid-February.

    According to sources, the selection panel headed by the cabinet secretary has shortlisted candidates that include State Bank of India Chairman Arundhati Bhattacharya, former capital markets joint secretary Thomas Mathew (now an additional secretary in the President's office), Vikram Limaye, CEO of IDFC, Ramesh Abhishek, former chairman of Forward Markets Commission (FMC), Competition Commission of India Member MS Sahoo and current Sebi Whole-time Member Rajeev Kumar Agarwal.
