    Hunt on for next SEBI chief; panel shortlists 7 candidates

    Sources have told CNBC-TV18 that the selection panel will submit its recommendations to government shortly. The committee is empowered to go beyond the current applicants to look for next SEBI chief, source adds.

    The Cabinet Secretary-led panel, on Thursday, concluded interviewing seven candidates that have been shortlisted to succeed UK Sinha as the market regulator Securities & Exchange Board of India's (SEBI) chief from February 17. The final seven candidates include Arundhati Bhattacharya, chairman of SBI, Vikram Limaye, MD & CEO IDFC, MS Sahoo, former member SEBI, Rajiv Aggarwal, former SEBI member, Ramesh Abhishek, former member FMC, Thomas Mathew, additional secretary to President and former joint secretary, Capital Markets and Madhavi Chugh, financial advisor with Blackrock Investments.
