For the first time, a health insurance policy will cover travel and treatment costs of illnesses abroad. Apollo Munich is set to launch Critical Advantage, which covers eight critical illnesses treated abroad, and will also pay for travel and accommodation expenses for the insured and an accompanying person.
This is offered as a rider with its Optima Restore or Easy Health policy of above `10 lakh and is available for a sum assured of either Rs 1.5 crore or Rs 3 crore. The premium for a 35-year-old for the base policy and rider works out to about Rs 16,000.
"While people have this fear of how to choose the best healthcare facility, they also wonder how to fund their travel cost," said Antony Jacob, CEO, Apollo Munich Health Insurance.
