The country’s largest insurer LIC invested Rs. 65,000 crore in equities during FY16, said a top official of the company. In the previous fiscal (FY15), the Corporation had invested over Rs. 55,000 crore in equities.
Speaking on the sidelines of the SIDBI Startup Conclave, Pravin Kutumbe, Executive Director (Investment Operations), said the insurer had invested approximately Rs. 2.7 lakh crore in debt and equity markets in the last financial year. He said the company continues to be bullish on the banking sector and sees value in scrips of public sector banks at their present valuations.
