I agree with all the points except one which says agents are not bothered about claims. If it would not be for agents, companies would happily reject half the claims its because agents fight for customers the companies have to pay a claims. Also without the agents, companies would can not stand for even 1 day because their sale will drop to almost zero. Then you will argue that online business is the future and by looking at company's claim settlement ratio one can put money but the ratios are just a shame because there are no separate ratios of maturity claims, surrender claims, offline claims and online claims. So if the company has lets say a ratio of 96% there is no way to find out their online claim settlement ratio. Insurance companies are influencing IRDAI to help them remove agents from in between and eat the entire pie. Also if the customers go directly to the company buys a policy and dies, who will get the Claim for them? The family of that person will have to run from pillar to post and will be harassed like anything. You can check the customer forum's blog which will open eyes of everyone. We are the ones who serve the customers when there are more than 60 service or operation related issues.
Also you mean banks and brokers are better than agents because they don't missell. Please do a survey and you will understand who is misselling. By far all the policies sold by banks or brokers are missold i.e. Almost 99% are missold. Where as agents to a great extent don't missell. I do agree there are few agents who missell but you cannot generalise them.
Well I have encountered many customers who are missold by India infoline myself and its funny that they are writing this article even though they themselves missell big time being insurance brokers. Also you just print it without any statistics or data.
There should be a proper survey on all the channels of all the insurance companies who sell insurance of any kind and then you may write this article.
