When you cannot time the market but still want returns, SIP (systematic investment plan) is an attractive option for equity investments. It reduces the cost per unit of share as the monthly investment is decided in advance.
About six SIPs from various fund houses have given over 20% returns for a five year investment. UTI Mid-cap Fund has topped this list with a 26.5% return, Franklin India Prima fund gave the second highest return at 25.2%, Birla Sun Life Pure Value Fund at 24.5% return was another SIP that did not disappoint investors followed by HDFC Mid cap Opportunities Fund with 23.4%, SBI Magnum Global Fund and ICICI Prudential Value Discovery Fund with 22.2% for investments up to five years.
