Srikala Bhashyam had attended an event conducted by an investment consultancy in Bengaluru, as a journalist. No sooner was the event over did she call up her close friend Roopa Shankar. “Why don’t you give that a try?” she asked. That was way back in 2002.
Shankar didn’t know she would be a pioneer. It was a time when not many women took to risky careers, let alone dream of being an investment consultant. Fourteen years after that fateful call, Shankar today is among the better known of investment consultants in Bengaluru.
