Employee Provident Fund Organisation may cautiously increase its exposure to equity beyond 5% after its investment of last year has started yielding returns.
Though not listed on the agenda of the scheduled meeting of the EPFO's Central Board of Trustees (CBT) on Friday, the proposal could be moved by labour minister Bandaru Dattatreya, who is the chairman of CBT. The increase in equity exposure could be in the range of 7-10% of the fund and will translate into annual investment of more than Rs 10,000 crore in equity, as against over Rs 6,000 crore invested in the last financial year.
