Caveat Emptor is an ancient Latin concept that means ‘Buyer Beware’, which is just as apt when selecting a wealth advisor. It requires a client or the buyer to do some homework on the product or service before going ahead with it. Research or homework becomes even more important when it comes to putting your faith on another for managing your hard earned wealth. As with the selection of any advisor, the prime focus of the relationship is ‘Trust’ or the faith that is put in the person/institution providing the advice.
This in itself imposes a fiduciary responsibility that can only be expected from a prudent, experienced and sound advisor /institution with the relevant experience and sound credentials.
