Investors looking at the recent mutual fund performance charts will find some interesting names among the table toppers. Equity funds, which for many years had been lagging behind their peers, have exhibited a smart recovery in performance. What has led to this turnaround and how should investors assess their performance?
After struggling for several years, funds across categories have seen their performance spike. Particularly, some of the funds from the stables of HDFC Mutual Fund—HDFC Top 200, HDFC Equity and HDFC Tax Saver— have shown a visible swing in fortunes.
While all three schemes briefly enjoyed a sharp uptick in performance during the market rally in 2014, they could not sustain the performance, suffering a particularly bad run in 2015 when they ended the year at the bottom of the performance charts.
