The market capitalization of companies trading on BSE hit a new peak of Rs116 trillion on Tuesday, driven by mutual funds that stocked up on shares in the broader market, even as the benchmark Sensex closed flat.
Strong domestic investor interest fuelled mid- and small-cap stocks, along with the front line indices. The BSE’s market capitalization closed at Rs115.9 trillion on Tuesday, as investors cashed in gains. The BSE mid-cap and BSE small-cap indices shed 0.56% and 0.63%, respectively.
