Investing in bank fixed deposits (FDs) is a mixed blessing. While it gives the investor peace of mind, it may or may not provide any sense of security as inflation keeps eating into returns and by the time you reach your retirement age, the 7-9 per cent return on FDs (or may be lower) may fall short of your expectation.
In comparison, equity investment generally ends up giving 15-20 per cent returns at a compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) in the long run.
