MFDs across the country have teamed up to remain at the forefront in this fight against the pandemic. They are not only promoting but also arranging vaccination drives.
Here are some of the drives that were conducted recently.
Amit Charadava of Jash Consultancy, Junagarh, Gujarat
Amit conducted a special vaccination drive on 12 June 2021 for the third gender community. A total of 25 people from the transgender community and their relatives benefited from this free drive. Amit has also gifted clothes and jewellery to honour the third gender community.
Additionally, he has organised Maha Vaccination Camp on 19 June 2021 in which more than 850 people were vaccinated free of cost. The drive was open for those eligible above the age of 45 years.
Amit will continue to hold such drives every Saturday, and is currently working towards organising a drive for differently-abled.
Munnavar Khan of Vision Advisory Services, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh
It was a moment of pride for Munnavar when he was selected in the volunteering team by Madhya Pradesh Government for the ‘Vaccination Mahaabhiyan’.
Munnavar looks into spreading awareness and organising vaccination camps in designated areas of the assigned ward. He primarily works towards getting slum dwellers vaccinated. He educates people about the importance of getting vaccinated and has distributed around 1000 masks in these areas. He also arranges for travel logistics for those residing at a distance from the camp.
The camp is held every alternate day and has already administered more than 550 free doses. Munnavar shares the drive is open to all those who are eligible in the 18+ category and will be held until 30 June 2021.
Association of Independent Financial Advisors (AIFA), Trivandrum, Kerala
G. Manikandan Nair, President along with George Jacob, Secretary and Sajith S G Nair Treasurer of AIFA, Trivandrum have organised a vaccination drive in association with a private hospital. The drive was held on 20 June 2021 where more than 70 doses were administered. MFDs, their families and clients have benefitted from this initiative of AIFA, Trivandrum.
George informed that beneficiaries were relieved from paying any service charges and only had to bear the vaccine cost. The drive helped those who had difficulties in booking online slots and/or travelling to centres situated at a distant location.
Hiren Vora, Surendranagar, Gujarat
Holding a vaccination drive is not possible for every MFD who wants to contribute towards a covid-free society. That's why some of them are opting for other means to register their contribution. One such MFD Hiren Vora has formed a Whatsapp group to share updates on vaccination slot availability with people in his town. The MFD, who sells MF products in Surendranagar in Gujarat, says his initiative has helped over 4,000 people get vaccine slots. The initiative, he said, motivated other MFDs in the region to also start similar groups.
