Why are new investors dumping equity mutual funds?

Many new mutual fund investors are redeeming their investments made in equity mutual funds a little over an year ago. According to mutual fund advisors, these investors are spooked by the lingering volatility in the stock market and confused about the impact of long-term capital gains tax on their investments in equity mutual funds.
