SEBI has issued guidelines for AIFs seeking dissolution period to deal with illiquid assets.

AIFs seeking dissolution period can file an information memorandum with SEBI through a merchant banker before the expiry of the liquidation period.

AIFs will have to give details like the name of the AIF, registration number, the names of its trustees or directors, the scheme's name and financial details related to unliquidated investments in the information memorandum.

Existing AIFs with illiquid assets can submit such information memorandum to seek extension till April 25, 2025, clarified SEBI.

Please note that this period is over and above the 2-year extension that many fund houses opt for.
