The PMS industry has been growing rapidly. The latest SEBI data shows that PMS AUM excluding EPFO contribution has reached Rs. 7.43 lakh crore in September 2024.
This AUM has grown by over 30% in the last one year from Rs. 5.67 lakh crore in September 2023.
Here, discretionary PMS AUM, where fund managers take investment calls, has witnessed highest growth in assets. Its AUM has increased by over 35% from Rs. 3.39 lakh crore in September 2023 to Rs. 4.59 lakh crore in September 2024.
Such a growth is 24% in non-discretionary PMS. Its AUM has increased from Rs. 2.28 lakh crore in September 2023 to Rs. 2.84 lakh crore in September 2024.
Total PMS Assets
If we include EPFO, the PMS AUM has grown from Rs. 30.25 lakh crore in September 2023 to Rs. 36.28 lakh crore in September 2024, a growth of about 20%.
Discretionary AUM including EPFO has grown by 20% in one year from Rs. 25.30 lakh crore to Rs. 30.28 lakh crore. Similarly, non-discretionary AUM including EPFO has also grown by 24% in the last one year from Rs. 2.42 lakh crore to Rs. 2.99 lakh crore.
Co-investment mode has seen the highest growth of 263% in one year. Its AUM has increased from Rs. 742 crore in September 2023 to Rs. 2700 crore in September 2024. AIF companies run PMS strategies through a co-investment route for their clients if there is some unabsorbed opportunity available.
Advisory PMS has also grown by 18% from Rs. 2.52 lakh crore in September 2023 to Rs. 2.97 lakh crore in September 2024.
Number of PMS clients
In terms of number of clients, the discretionary PMS has witnessed the highest increase in number of clients i.e. from 1.42 lakh in September 2023 to 1.75 lakh in September 2024.
The number of non-discretionary PMS clients and Co-Investment clients has also increased in the last one year. While the number of non-discretionary PMS clients has increased from 4900 to 5800 , the Co-investment PMS clients has seen massive growth i.e. from 97 clients in September 2023 to 383 clients in September 2024.
However, the number of Advisory PMS clients has decreased from 1700 to 1400 in the last one year.
