Now your clients can link their Aadhaar number with their mutual funds folios

CAMS has introduced a service to facilitate Aadhaar linking in mutual fund folios.

Your clients can now link their Aadhaar number with their mutual fund folios.

CAMS has launched Aadhaar linking facility on www.camsonline.com for hassle free submission of Aadhaar details. This will help your investors to link their Aadhaar details with their mutual funds holdings.

Recently, the government has asked financial institution like mutual funds to link Aadhaar number of their customers with their financial investments.

Through a press release, Anuj Kumar, COO, Asset Management Services, CAMS said, “To make the Aadhaar linking process convenient for investors, CAMS solution is built to link the Aadhaar details in all existing folios across mutual funds serviced by CAMS in a seamless fashion with the investors’ consent. This eliminates the need for the investor to link the Aadhaar details separately in every folio.”

As a UIDAI approved agency, CAMS verifies the Aadhaar details submitted by investors before it is finally linked to the corresponding folios. Once the details are verified, CAMS system links all folios where the investor has provided consent to update and confirmation communication is sent for the respective updation.

CAMS has initiated awareness campaign on the need, urgency and importance of Aadhaar linking in mutual fund folios via online, call center, service center, help desks and social media platforms.

Once We have linked Adhar to PAN and all investments are based on PAN so why should be separate function to interlink with folio . Data based system in MF should pick it and update. Account statements in Folios shuld forth with indicate Adhar as shown in PAN

When all the MFs have their clients' PAN Number and the Income Tax Department has got the linking of PAN with Aadhaar, why they cannot share the same 'linked data' to financial intermediary like CAMS and Banks, etc.
Why every time the same exercise is repeated by forcing the clients/customers to do it once again and all the intermediaries doing once again the same exercise duplicate/triplicate.

The CAMS website to link Aadhaar and Folio/AMC is not working. The error message after submission mentions 'Aadhaar KYC could not be completed. PAN verification service failure at Income tax Department. Please try after some time or proceed with a normal KYC providing all documents".

This is very annoying. I have few questions/feedback here:
    1) This activity is Aadhaar linking/seeding not Aadhaar KYC as CAMS website mentions in error message. The error message is very confusing, since the message mentions that the investor needs to proceed for a normal KYC. I dont understand why I should proceed for KYC to link Aadhaar
    2) Mine is a KYC verified PAN with complete information with AMC, CAMS, etc. why verification with Income Tax Department again?
    3) In the past 2 days, I have tried this more than a dozen times and everytime the same error message. So is this really working? does the website process work?
    4) CAMS Website does not mention which type of investors needs to do this process, etc. Looks like CAMS process is half baked and will make the investors run multiple times to complete the linking

It seems the UIDAI has blocked the link to lock the biometric data of AADHAR

MY PAN IS LINKED TO MY AADHAAR. WHY MUTUAL FUNDS ARE TROUBLING ASKING AADHAAR UPDATION? WHY CAMS, KARVY, SUNDARAM AND FRANKLIN NOT SEEK AADHAAR NUMBER FROM UIDAI GIVING INVESTOR'S FOLIO NUMBER AND PAN NUMBER AND LINK BOTH IN MF RECORDS? IT IS HORRENDOUS DESPITE TALKING DIGITALISATION. TODAY PAN AND AADHAAR, TOMORROW THERE WILL BE ANOTHER. IS THERE NO END TO REMAINING DIGITALLY IGNORANT?
