The AMC added 2.24 lakh folios last year which took its total investor base to 1.01 crore as on March 2012. The last time it had crossed the 1 crore folio mark was in January 2010.

As per the latest AMFI data, UTI AMC has added over two lakh folios in FY12 which took up its total investor base to 1.01 crore from  98.87  lakh folios in March 2011.

UTI MF had crossed 1 crore investor base earlier in January 2010 but saw some attrition in folios due to adverse market conditions. UTI had 99.71 folios as on September 2010.

“We had crossed one crore folios in January 2010. We had a consistent focus on client acquisition. Folios additions have been across all schemes,” says a senior official from UTI.

UTI MF slipped to fifth position in March 2012 from fourth after its assets under management fell to Rs. 58,922 crore in March 2012. It was managing Rs. 67,189 crore in March 2011. UTI was not allowed to launch any new schemes by SEBI for a long time in the absence of a head.
