AMFI data shows that the AUM of individual investors i.e. retail investors and HNIs in equity funds has increased by 60% from Rs. 22.95 lakh crore in September 2023 to Rs. 36.58 lakh crore in September 2024.
Equity funds account for 87% of the total individual AUM of Rs.42.10 lakh crore in September 2024.
On the other hand, the contribution of individual investors in debt funds and money market funds stands at 8.5% and 2.4% of the total individual assets, respectively.

Overall, individual AUM has grown by 50% from Rs. 28.10 lakh crore in September 2023 to Rs. 42.10 lakh crore in September 2024
73% of the total individual assets has come from T30 cities while B30 cities contributed the remaining 27%
While 73% of the total individual AUM has come from regular plans in T30 cities, such a proportion is 78% in B30 cities
Overall, 74% of individual assets has come through distributors. Direct plan contributes for the remaining 26% of the assets
