    HDFC, ICICI Prudential and ABSL are the top three in debt AUM

    The top 10 fund houses account for 85% of the MF industry’s total debt AAUM.

    An analysis of quarterly average AUM of 41 fund houses shows that HDFC MF, ICICI Prudential MF and Aditya Birla Sun Life MF are the top three in terms of debt AUM.

    In April-June 2019, HDFC MF continued to remain the largest fund house in terms of debt AUM. The fund house has witnessed a growth of Rs.6154 crore or 3.27% to reach AUM of Rs. 1.89 lakh crore as on June 2019 with a market share of 14%.

    ICICI MF and ABSL MF followed HDFC MF with debt AUM of Rs.1.75 lakh crore and Rs.1.61 lakh crore. In absolute terms, ICICI Prudential recorded highest growth among the top 5 fund houses. The fund house added close to Rs.9200 crore to its debt AUM kitty.

    Among the top ten fund houses, Reliance Nippon Life MF and UTI MF saw a decline in debt AAUM. While debt AUM of Reliance Nippon Life fell by 16% to 1.02 lakh crore from Rs.1.21 lakh crore, UTI MF recorded 23% decline of Rs.20,000 crore in three months.

    Due to this, Kotak MF has now moved to sixth position with AUM of Rs.96,410 crore. The fund house saw absolute increase of Rs.7000 crore in its debt AUM despite the FMP rollover issue.

    Overall, IDFC MF has witnessed the highest growth of 23% or Rs.10800 crore in its debt AUM. The fund house’s debt AUM has increased from Rs.47,356 crore to Rs.58,132 crore in three months.

    Currently, the top 10 fund houses account for 85% of the MF industry’s total debt AAUM.

    While large fund houses in terms of debt AAUM remained on a strong footing, emerging fund houses witnessed a decline in their debt assets. 

    Apart from the aforementioned top 10 fund houses, there were 29 other fund houses having debt schemes. And 20 of these 29 fund houses saw a decline in their debt AAUM, compared to the last quarter.
