    HDFC, ICICI Pru and Aditya Birla retain the top spots in debt AUM

    Meanwhile, most emerging fund houses had a tough time in July-September. As many as 19 of the 31 fund houses at the bottom saw a decline in their debt AAUM.

    An analysis of quarterly average AUM of 41 fund houses shows that HDFC MF, ICICI Prudential MF and Aditya Birla Sun Life MF are the top three players in terms of debt AAUM.

    In July-September, HDFC MF’s debt AAUM stood at Rs 2.05 lakh crore, ICICI Prudential MF’s at Rs 1.86 crore and Aditya Birla Sun Life MF’s at Rs 1.63 crore.

    These three fund houses were holding the top three spots in April-June as well. SBI MF also continued to be the fourth largest player in the debt fund category with an AAUM of Rs 1.42 lakh crore.

    Next in the list is Kotak MF, which took over Nippon India MF for the fifth spot. Nippon India MF, saw a decline in its debt AAUM to Rs 85,925 crore from a tad over Rs 1 lakh crore in April-June. 

    Apart from Nippon India MF, UTI MF was among the top 10 fund houses that witnessed a decline in debt AAUM. The top 10 fund houses account for 86% of the MF industry’s total debt assets.

    Tough time for emerging fund houses

    Most emerging fund houses had a tough time in July-September. While only two of the top 10 fund houses witnessed a decline in their debt AAUM, 19 of the 31 fund houses at the bottom saw a decline. Moreover, seven of them witnessed a decline of over Rs 1,000 crore in their AAUM.
