Swarup Mohanty, CEO, Mirae Asset Mutual Fund believes lacklustre performance of physical assets has encouraged retail investors in B30 cities to explore mutual funds. “In my view, we will witness more participation in B30 cities over the next three to four years as physical assets will continue to deliver unattractive returns.”
Jimmy Patel, MD & CEO, Quantum AMC points out that many retail investors have started investing in mutual funds through SIP. “The rise in average ticket size could be because of market appreciation in January 2019 and growing popularity of SIPs.”
“Ease in the investment process and growing awareness about mutual funds through SIP have contributed in this growth,” said Mumbai IFA Sadashiv Arvind Phene.
Overall, the average ticket size of investors in mutual funds has grown to Rs. 3.15 lakh from Rs.2.83 lakh.
