The latest AMFI data shows that 27% of the total SIP AUM has remained active for over 5 years in the mutual fund industry. Of the total SIP AUM of Rs.3.25 lakh crore, Rs. 87,600 stayed put for over five years.
Further, of the Rs.87600 crore, nearly 88% or Rs.76,800 crore has come from regular plans while 12% or Rs.10800 crore is direct.
Regular plan SIPs
In line with the industry, 27% or Rs.76800 crore of the regular plan SIP AUM has remained active for over 5 years.
If we delve deeper into the SIP longevity data, 26% or Rs.73,500 crore of the total SIP AUM and 16% or Rs.46711 crore have been active for 1 year and 2 years, respectively. This indicates that many new SIPs have been added through regular plans in the recent past.
Direct plan SIPs
Similar trend was observed in direct plan SIP AUM. Of the total SIP AUM of Rs.38,600 crore in direct plans, 28% or Rs.10,823 crore was stayed put for over 5 years.
The new SIPs i.e. 33% of the total SIP AUM or Rs.12,738 crore has been active for the last one year.
Experts believe emergence of online distributors like Paytm and ETMoney have majorly contributed to this growth.
