In this edition of ‘Principal Business Champions – Winning Ideas’, we asked distributors across the country to share their experience on how they are guiding clients during covid-19 pandemic.
The Principal Business Champions is a joint initiative between Principal Mutual Fund and Cafemutual that offers a platform to the MF distribution community to share their successful business practices and ideas.

पूरे विश्व में इस समय कोरोना वायरस की वजह से आर्थिक मंदी का माहौल है, यह एक प्राकृतिक आपदा है, जिसका पूर्वानुमान कभी भी नहीं लगाए जा सकता. ऐसे में शेयर बाजार में भी जबरदस्त उठापटक देखने को मिल रही है. यह #फाइनैंशलक्राइसिस नहीं अपितु #मेडिकलक्राइसिस है और उम्मीद है कि इसका इलाज आने वाले कुछ महीनों में जल्द ही ढूंढ लिया जाएगा क्योंकि कोई भी देश अपने सारे नागरिकों को मरने के लिए नहीं छोड़ सकता. *यह वक्त भी गुजर जाएगा*. इस समय जरूरत है तो सिर्फ धैर्य बनाए रखने की.
एक वित्तीय सलाहकार के रूप में मैं सिर्फ दो ही बातें कहता हूं.
1. जो भी पुराने निवेशक हैं वह बस बने रहें, अगर आपने निवेश लंबी अवधि के लिए और किसी गोल के लिए किया है तो आपको घबराने की जरूरत नहीं है. अगर आपके पास ऐसा धन है जिसकी आपको 3 से 5 साल जरूरत नहीं है तो एवरेजिंग करने का यह सबसे अच्छा समय है लेकिन ध्यान रहे यह पैसा भी हमको थोड़ा-थोड़ा करके डालना है.
2. नए निवेशकों के लिए हमारी यह सलाह है कि वह म्यूचुअल फंड के माध्यम से बाजार में निवेश करें परंतु इस समय बिना निवेश के गोल के बिना बाजार में बिल्कुल भी प्रवेश ना करें. नए निवेशकों के लिए 5 साल की अवधि के हिसाब से मार्केट में पोजीशन बनाने का अच्छा मौका है. परंतु यहां भी एक साथ पैसा नहीं डालना है. एसटीपी के माध्यम से या फिर लिक्विड फंड में पैसा रख कर वहां से धीरे-धीरे शिफ्ट करना है.

‘Tell clients working in affected sectors that they can pause SIPs’
The lockdown due to the coronavirus outbreak has affected industries like airline, construction, manufacturing, travel agencies and so on. In fact, many people working in these sectors have been witnessing a delay in their salary.
I have been contacting such clients to check if they need any help with respect to their investments. In fact, I have informed them that they can pause their SIPs or redeem money from emergency corpus to fund their household expenses.

‘Be in constant touch with clients’
I am in constant touch with all my clients to ensure that they feel safe about their investments.
Over the last few days, I have come across two types of clients –one category wants to exit mutual funds while the other wants to take advantage of the current downfall.
To the ones who want to redeem their investments, I remind them about their financial goals and risk appetite.
I advise clients who have shown their interest in investing more money to take a staggered approach. I have asked them to invest in mutual funds through STPs spread across at least three installments to reduce risk of timing the market.
I have also advised them to rebalance their portfolios. For instance, if their small cap exposure is reduced from 15% to 8% due to downfall, they should invest such that their exposure to small cap funds is back to 15% again.
