MFRT 2013 targeting 900 IFAs in Hyderabad
IFAs from across the country gathered in Bhubaneswar on August 4 & 5 for an agenda packed with knowledge, motivation, fun and bonding.
The highlight of the event was a soul stirring presentation by Ragunath Murthy who had travelled from Djakarta for the event. Ragu (also known as Joe!), shared the story of his struggle. His career began at the age of 19, when he had to quit college to support his family following the sudden death of his father. He began by selling burgers on the streets and railway station of Kuala Lumpur and later moved to selling insurance where it took him over 3 months to sell his first policy. Today, he is a large distributor of financial products with a network of 1800 advisors.
The other speakers too shared ideas and insights. Navin Tewari of Birla Sunlife spoke on Practice Management and stressed on unlearning as a technique to look at issues from a fresh perspective. Aashish Somaiyaa of ICICI Prudential drew analogies from the world of cricket and movies to underline his core message on the importance of process and methods in making the best out of the opportunities facing the IFA today.
Anil Patra, IFA from Behrampur spoke on the challenges facing the IFA community and the veteran IFA, Suri Seeta Ram from Hyderabad likened IFAs to doctors – IFAs look at wealth just the way doctors look after our health. Sumeet Vaid of Ffreedom Financial Planners urged IFAs to adopt financial planning. Sadique Neelgund of Network FP stressed on the importance of knowledge in creating a stronger practice. Nikhil Mehta of Next Advisors reminded the gathering of the important role of technology.
