The recent survey published by IANS-CVoter says that 56% of Indian working professionals have started pursuing their hobbies. And the MF industry is no different.

In fact, over the last three months, many individual MFDs and AMC officials have been pursuing their hobbies to de-stress themselves after a long working day at home. We spoke to a few of them to understand what hobbies they have been pursuing.

Anupam Saxena, National Head - Sales, Quant MF is doing gardening these days. “This lockdown has given me an opportunity to do some research on gardening and plant some saplings at home.”

Manisha Dokania, Chief Manager-Marketing, Edelweiss MF has started a wall mural. Painting and sketching has always been her thing along with learning new things about Japanese culture. “I always wanted to paint something creative on my walls but never got the courage. But the lockdown encouraged me to pick up the brush and just do it,” she said.

Meanwhile, DP Singh, ED & CMO (Domestic) SBI MF says that although lockdown has kept him busier than ever, his fund house has launched a talent competition for all employees to keep them motivated. “Recently, we have organised an interesting contest wherein all of us have to share videos performing singing, dancing and so on. This inspired me to practice singing.”

Sunil Subramaniam, MD & CEO, Sundaram MF and Vishal Kapoor, CEO, IDFC MF said that they have been doing household chores to support their better half.

While Amit Bivalkar of Sapient Wealth spends his free time in playing keyboard (musical instrument), Agra MFD Shifali Satsangee of Funds Ve'daa is honing her culinary and baking skills. Indore MFD Pramod Saraf of Swan Finance has been playing table tennis these days.

Similarly, Pune MFD Prasad Deshpande has been honing his cooking skills. He said, “I enjoy cooking but I did not get time to pursue this hobby. The lockdown has given me adequate time to pursue this hobby. In fact, I have learnt to cook dishes like pasta, pizza, garlic bread and even ice-cream.”
