Maharashtra holds the top position not just in terms of highest industry AUM but also in new ARN and EUIN registrations. It accounts for 11% of the new ARN registrations, shows latest AMFI data on geographical spread of the ARN holders.
Experts believe that as Maharashtra is the commercial capital of India, the state has added the highest number of new ARNs and particularly EUINs through corporate employees.
Karnataka and Tamil Nadu hold second and third positions after Maharashtra. Both the states contributed nearly 10% each to new distributor registrations. Altogether, these three states account for over 31% of the new ARN and EUIN registrations.
Between April 2019 and June 2020, the industry has added 41,962 new distributors, of which 8, 682 are individuals and 32,372 are corporate employees. Addition in new registration of ARN and EUINs has fallen drastically in the last few months due to the lockdown. In addition, the ban in upfront commission has also added to the slowdown in new ARN registration.
Further, the data shows that 41% of overall registration are from B30 cities.
As on June 2020, the industry has 2.26 lakh ARNs of which 88,526 are individual distributors and 1.22 lakh employees.
