Ajay Tyagi will continue as SEBI chairman till February 2022 after the government extended his term for another 18 months. This is the second time Tyagi has got extension after he was appointed as SEBI chairman in March 2017 for a term of three years. Tyagi was given a 6 months extension as SEBI chairman earlier when his initial three year term came to an end.
Tyagi, an IAS Officer of Himachal Pradesh Cadre, has held several responsible positions with distinction in state and central governments.
He did his graduation in electrical engineering and post-graduation in computer science. He also did his Masters in Public Administration from Harvard University.
