Famous blogger and trainer PV Subramanyam believes that distributors having good ideas should start blogging to reach the masses. He feels that not being a good writer is not a huge constraint to writing blogs. If you possess a good hold on the subject, you can hire someone to write and convey your ideas through blogs.
At Cafemutual's event CIFA 2020, he shared his experience and laid out the rules of blogging in detail. He said that the first step to blogging is reading a lot. Next you need to be mindful of your audience to ensure that you strike the right chord with them.
He also advised that blogs need not be restricted to finance. “If you are passionate about travel or lifestyle or something else, you can write on those topics as well. This can help in getting initial traffic to the blog,” he said.
Quality of writing is another important aspect that Subra focused upon. He said that while writing you need to be careful that you don’t copy someone else's work or write something irrational. Since everybody is watching, your reputation is at stake, he cautions.
Quantity is another important aspect, in blogging. Quantity means the frequency of your blogs. For instance, blogs can be written every week, every month, every fortnight or every day. You need to figure out how many blogs can you produce in a certain time frame and stick to it, Subra emphasized.
"I've been running a blog since 2008 and I've been writing every day. It's not easy but it's not difficult either. It comes from the reading that you do. If you don't do the reading, it will be difficult," he said.
He further said that one should not write a blog just because somebody else is writing it. If this is the case, you will give up at some point. Subra added that if writing doesn't interest you, you can explore other mediums to convey your ideas. For instance, you can put up pictures, create infographics, produce vlogs and so on.
“You will get visibility on these forms of content as well and it serves the same purpose as a blog,” he said.
