    L&T MF appoints Soumendra Nath Lahiri as Head of Equity

    Soumendra was the Head of Equities at Canara Robeco Mutual Fund earlier.

     L&T Mutual Fund has appointed Soumendra Nath Lahiri as Head – Equity.

    Commenting on the appointment, Y.M. Deosthalee, Chairman and Managing Director, L&T Finance Holdings said, “I am pleased to welcome Lahiri as Head, Equity at L&T Mutual Fund. He will have overall responsibility for the equity team including trading and research. With over 20 years of experience in Indian equities and an award winning track record, Lahiri’s appointment will help to strengthen our investment capabilities further and also position us to take the business forward.”

    “I am delighted at the opportunity to be a part of the team and to be able to contribute to the expansion of the business here. Given the recent developments on the fiscal front in India, equities are at an interesting turning point. The asset management industry’s long term prospects in India show potential, despite the challenges we have seen in the last year or so,” said Soumendra Nath Lahiri.

    Soumendra holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from IIM Bangalore and an engineering degree as well. He has 21 years of experience of which 17 years of experience in equity investments and research.

    Soumendra was the head of equity at Canara Robeco Mutual Fund. Prior to joining Canara Robeco, Soumendra was the Chief Investment Officer - PMS at Emkay Investment Managers Ltd (January2011 to March, 2011), Chief Investment Officer at Fortuna Capital (May, 2008 to December, 2010) and was also Co-Head - Equities with DSP Black Rock Investment Managers (June, 2004 to March, 2008).

    L&T MF managed Rs 3046 crore as on June 2012.
