Kerala MFD Achuthan Kutty died of heart attack today. He was 58-year-old and survived by his wife, son and daughter.
Achuthan hailed from a small village of Thrissur district of Kerala. He had a novel way to sell mutual funds in rural areas through his ‘mobile’ office. For the last 30 years, he had been roaming around the villages in Thrissur district in his auto-rickshaw along with a driver for selling mutual funds and other financial products.
In fact, Sunil Subramaniam, MD and CEO, Sundaram Mutual Fund has named him Mr. Swiggy of the MF industry. Expressing his condolences, Sunil said, “Achuthan was very humble and self-sufficient. He popularized the concept of mutual fund SIPs in rural areas of Thrissur. He was very well respected among his clients.”
Just last month, Achuthan spoke at the recent Cafemutual Ideas Fest 2021 where he shared his success story with fellow MFDs.
“His way of promoting SIPs was very distinct, for which he created a name for himself in the MF industry. Recently, he was recognised by Cafemutual for his contributions to the MF industry. Demise of Achuthan is certainly a great loss for the MFD community of Kerala. May God give his family the strength to bear this loss,” said Philip Cherian, AIFA President.
Seconding his views, Jagadeesh R Pai Gen Secretary, AIFA said that Achuthan was very down to earth person. He said, “Despite being one of the top MFDs in Kerala, he never boasted of his achievements. He was very cheerful and always ready to help others in need.”
We at Cafemutual offer our deepest condolence to friends and family of the departed soul. May his soul rest in peace. Om Shanti.
