The mutual fund industry has received a net inflow of Rs. 38,275 crore in Oct 2021 as against a net outflow of Rs. 47,257 crore in Sep 2021. The AAUM has increased by 2% to Rs. 38.22 lakh crore over the last month and the overall gross redemption has reduced by 14% to Rs. 7.13 lakh crore in Oct 2021.

Number of folios and investors
- The MF industry has witnessed a 22% growth in the total number of folios in one year
- It has added 27.11 lakh new folio in Oct 2021 taking the total number to 11.44 crore
- The number of unique investors currently stands at 2.76 crore as against 2.67 crore in Sep 21
T30 vs B30
- T-30 and B-30 locations AUM and folio count have marginally increased over Sep 2021
- T-30 locations have contributed 82% (Rs. 30.76 lakh crore) of the total industry’s AUM of Rs. 37.33 lakh crore and the balance 18% (Rs. 6.57 lakh crore) is contributed by B-30 locations
- Out of the total folio count of 11.44 crore, 57% (6.51 crore) have been registered in T-30 locations and the remaining 43% (4.93 crore) in B-30 locations
Retail investors’ average ticket size
- Compared to Sep 21, the average AUM per folio has slightly declined from Rs. 1.86 lakh in Sep 21 to Rs. 1.84 lakh in Oct 21
- Likewise, the average ticket size of T-30 investors reduced from Rs. 2.44 lakh to 2.42 lakh in the same period and that of B-30 investors declined from Rs 1.09 lakh to Rs. 1.08 lakh
SIPs
- 23.83 lakh new SIPs have been registered in Oct 21 as against 26.80 lakh SIPs in Sep 21
- Combined SIP count now stands at 4.64 crore, of which 84.7% (3.93 crore) are equity-oriented SIPs while debt (other than liquid & overnight funds) and hybrid SIPs form 9.16% (42.51 lakh) of the total SIP count
- The industry witnessed discontinuation of 8.50 lakh SIPs in Oct 21 owing to maturity/closure/SIP-pause feature. This figure has improved from Sep 21 where 10.26 lakhs SIPs were discontinued
ARNs
- There are 3,612 new entrants in the mutual fund industry - 1,985 individuals, 1 overseas distributor, 113 corporates and 1,513 corporates
- 4,305 ARNs have been renewed - 2,344 individuals, 141 corporate and 1,820 corporate employees
- Maharashtra (24.09%), Gujarat (10.94%) and Uttar Pradesh (8.55%) enjoy the top three spots in terms of percentage of ARN/EUIN registration
