    ICICI Pru, Axis and HDFC are top three direct equity players

    Kotak Mahindra and SBI are next in the list with direct equity assets of over Rs.31,000 crore, shows an analysis of September AUM disclosure.

    ICICI Prudential, Axis and HDFC have the highest direct equity AUM, shows an analysis of monthly AUM disclosure data of fund houses. Of the total Rs.2 lakh crore equity assets of ICICI Prudential, direct plans account for 24% or Rs.44,082 crore worth of assets.

    Axis and HDFC have the next highest direct equity AUM at Rs.36,954 crore and Rs.36,814 crore, respectively. Kotak Mahindra and SBI come next in the list with direct equity assets worth Rs.33,594 crore and Rs.31,692 crore.

    Please note that we have included pure equity funds and ELSS to calculate direct equity AUM.

    In overall direct AUM (equity + debt), SBI tops the list with an AUM of Rs.3.6 lakh crore. The direct AUM accounts for 59% of the total AUM of the largest fund house. ICICI Prudential and HDFC follow SBI with direct AUM of Rs.2.lakh crore each.

    SBI has the third highest direct AUM to AUM percentage at 59%. Quantum and PPFAS have the highest direct AUM percentage at 96% and 63% respectively.

    ITI, Principal and Edelweiss have the lowest dependence on direct inflows. The share of direct AUM in their total AUM is the lowest at 11-18%.
