Indian finance industry under the aegis of SEBI is celebrating world investor week between November 22 and November 28.
Under this initiative, SEBI, AMFI and fund houses will carry out host of activities like investor awareness programs, quiz, contests and campaigns.
SEBIU has also installed a pavilion at Indian International Trade Fair 2021 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.
In a message, Ajay Tyagi, Chairman, SEBI said that informed investor is a protected investor. He said, “SEBI has been continuously working towards investor awareness and education as a means to investor protection. Post Covid -19 pandemic, Indian securities market witnessed a significant growth in terms of market capitalization as well as number of new demat and trading accounts, the mutual funds also saw significant inflows.”
He said that when a new investor enters the market, he/she expects the investing experience to be efficient, investor friendly and safe. SEBI has always endeavoured to ensure market integrity, provide investors with simplified investment process and have a robust grievance redressal mechanism, he added.
Tyagi has also cautioned investors to do their due diligence and not to invest based on tips or rumours. He said that investors should only deal with SEBI registered intermediaries like mutual fund companies.
World investor week is an initiative of International Organisations of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) and is a global event, which is celebrated by securities market regulators worldwide.
