Chennai MFD VK Sudharsan of Veekays Enterprises died after prolonged illness yesterday. He was 56-year-old and is survived by his wife and two sons.
Popularly known as VKS in financial distribution community, he was a very active member of IFA Galaxy. In fact he has served IFA Galaxy as its President.
According to his close friend Srinivasan, VKS was the among the seven founding members of IFA Galaxy. “When he was the president of IFA Galaxy, we did many new things like holding 2-day event instead of 1-day event. He was very well connected with AMC officials,” said Srinivasan.
Srinivasan further said, “As a person, he was very helpful and liked to go out of his way to help people. I still remember when we used to discuss a problem before him, he always replied ‘Don’t worry, I will get it done’.”
A veteran in the industry, VKS started distributing mutual funds when it was first introduced in 1989. Srinivasan said, “His mother was a postal agent. So, in a way, he was carrying the legacy of the family. He was part of the MF distribution industry for the last 30-35 years. Lots of his clients were associated with him since very long time. Currently, his company manages AUM of over Rs.300 crore in mutual funds and runs an active equity research desk.”
Srinivasan told Cafemutual that he was a trustee in many temples.
“VKS was a go getter and always played on the front foot. He had a friendly nature and was very good at hospitality. He was a great human being. The news of his death came as a shock to many. His demise is a big loss to the industry," said Chennai MFD Shankar, a friend of VKS.
Shankar further told Cafemutual that he loved spending time at country side doing cattle farming and cultivating crops.
