2021 is ending soon. Can you give us a sneak peek into your 2021?
Personally speaking, 2021 has been a wonderful year.
The year made me to stay fitter and spend more time with family along with some ‘me time’. From the professional viewpoint, it was a great year in terms of building my practice, where I realigned my business to be future-ready. High market levels allow correcting mistakes done in the past during good times.
What are the two key lessons that the year has taught you?
One big lesson was - if you take calculative risks, you can be handsomely rewarded. Secondly, the job that we do requires making decisions for clients. We are paid for making such decisions and having a fresh mind helps in taking good and qualitative calls. We must ensure taking timely and proper rest.
What are your aspirations for the coming year? What are the new things that you would like to implement in your professional and/or personal life?
What we would like to do in the next coming year is meaningfully add debt book. We have already made progress there and are at 30-35%. Secondly, we are also looking at adding alternatives. Having obtained AIF license, we would like to launch a product under this vertical in 2022.
On the personal side, I have been playing badminton for the last five to six years and will concentrate on my fitness so that I can be a better player.
What is that one thing that you feel could have been done differently last year?
I would have liked to meet my team in person more often. Physical interactions help in strategizing better and facilitate a seamless exchange of ideas.
What trends do you think MFDs/RIAs should watch for in 2022?
I think 2022 will be a big year for debt. Equity may take a breather and the debt flow can suddenly surprise everyone. You must watch out for the debt flow compared to equity flow in the coming year.
