‘Make India Better’ contest was launched to applaud acts of patriotism by the MF ecosystem including MFDs and AMC employees.
Every entry received exhibited Desh Prem and the traits of a responsible citizen. The judges said, “No act is small as every action creates a collective effect that makes India better. We would have loved to announce every entry as the winning entry, however adhering to the contest rules, we picked up 10. And, this was indeed a strenuous task for us.”
Here are the winners.
Akhil Khandelwal, Agra, Uttar Pradesh
Akhil spreads awareness about the importance of education. For this, he engages with families from underprivileged backgrounds and encourages them to send their children to school. Additionally, he also distributes clothes and provides medical assistance. Further, in his effort to curb corruption, he discourages bribes of any sort. Besides, Akhil pays his taxes on time and primarily opts for locally manufactured goods.
Akta Sehgal of Manas Wealth, Noida, Uttar Pradesh
January is known as the cervical cancer awareness month and in her mission of keeping the nation healthy, Akta has been spreading awareness through her social media handles. She is simultaneously raising funds for the medical treatment of a needy cancer patient.
Akta is also actively involved with a social group to raise funds for a girl child’s education.
Chetan Nandani, President of Saurashtra Kutch IFA Association (SKIFAA), Saurashtra, Gujarat
As SKIFAA’s President, Chetan has created a team of volunteer members for arranging oxygen cylinders and medicines for covid patients. He also handheld the children of two deceased members to understand and continue the mutual fund distribution of their late father. In addition, the team used their personal funds to distribute food and drinking water to those affected by the Tauktae cyclone last year.
Jekin Saiya, Palghar, Maharashtra
Jekin along with other like-minded people formed Sarva Dharma Seva Panth, a social group in 2008. He regularly visits orphanages, old-age homes and ashrams to distribute freshly cooked food, stationery products, clothes, seasonal items like raincoats, warm clothing, etc.
Also, the group also distributes cattle feed to cattle farms. The group was accredited with 'Certificate of Honour' in 'World Peace Campaign Awards 2019' organised by 'Yogmata Foundation' at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi.
Manju Mundhra of R.D. Wealth Management, Kolkata, West Bengal
Manju is a part of a social club, through which she recently distributed school bags and blankets to the less fortunate. Besides, she has also assisted in setting up a health camp that provided free medical health, eye check-up, ECG (Electrocardiography), dental care etc.
Munnavar Khan of Vision Advisory, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh
Munnavar has recently formed KGN Social Foundation for carrying out social initiatives. He has distributed more than 2,000 masks to date and has facilitated more than 14,000 vaccinations. In fact, he had also organised an exclusive vaccination drive for the third gender. His other initiatives include - distribution of blankets/jackets/food packets and taking 150 less fortunate children on a ferry ride for celebrating Diwali.
Ravi Kumar, Jammu, Jammu and Kashmir
As a strong supporter of girls’ education, Ravi distributes school/competitive exams books to 8th, 10th and 12th graders from government schools. Securing a high rank is the only prerequisite here. Every year, he also distributes stationery to all school children. His other initiatives for the less-privileged include, job guidance to fresh graduates, attending medical needs, providing ration, etc.
Ritesh Sheth of Tejas Consultancy, Mumbai, Maharashtra
Ritesh has employed differently-abled individuals as his back-office staff. He learnt basic sign language to communicate with his hearing-impaired and mute employees.
Ritesh acquires immense satisfaction to see how his specially gifted employees are leading an independent life. His employees have spent a year and a half and continue to grow financially as well as professionally.
Rupali Kulkarni of SWS Financial Solutions, Mumbai, Maharashtra
Rupali, Training Head, SWS Financial Solutions has formed a Financial Literacy Club (FLC) in various schools and organisations. Students and employees are taught financial concepts and explained government Schemes like PM Jeevan Suraksha Yojna, PM Jeevan Jyoti Yojna, Ayushman Bharat Yojna, etc. Once trained, they are known as Arth Sakshtra Doots who take this financial campaign further to their villages, rural areas, and other organisations.
Currently, there are 14 active FLCs which has benefited over 3,000 individuals across Nagpur, Wardha, Nashik, Mumbai and Pune. Rupali’s efforts have been recognised through the ‘Financial Literacy Leadership Award 2019’ by AWOKE, Karvy.
Tarif Ameen of UTI Mutual Fund, Shillong, Meghalaya
Tarif is the Chief Manager of UTI Mutual Fund’s Shillong Branch. Along with his like-minded colleagues, he raised funds to procure and distribute blankets. Over 100 blankets have been distributed to slum dwellers in the past 10 days. Additionally, he actively volunteers in other group initiatives like spreading covid-19 awareness, food/masks/sanitiser distribution drive, etc.
